It is conceived to be an invitation for those who delight in deep thoughts found in art. The title, im/permeable feeling(s), restates that the receiver, whether a casual calligraphy art lover or a dilettante, is the one who self-adjusts the level of absorbance, grants permission of what is allowed and controls what he or she sees.
In his exhibited works, Hawila reflects on the relation of human beings with their feelings, acts and thoughts. He further explores the fundamental concept of deeply journeying within, through the core of oneself to ultimately comprehend the human essence.
The combination of the traditional craft of Arabic calligraphy with contemporary techniques and mediums especially screen printing, produces a striking contrast immersing the audience in the depths of the exhibited artworks: concealed feelings, introversion, examination and discovery of the self.
This exhibition was held at SV Gallery in Beirut in the summer of 2019, and was sponsored by the Lebanese Foundation for the National Library and the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.
