content : “It is through suffering that the strongest souls emerge, the greatest people are covered by scars".
(Lebanese philosopher and writer, Khalil Gibran).
"Over time. we become the observers of our scars rather than the identifiers of them. As we experience life through the different prisms of scars, they become doorways to our enlightenment and a little gem where light enters your heart."
(Sufi Persian poet, Rumi)
Reflecting on dramatic events and scarred walls, Hawila shares his insight on the contradiction between what we present to the outside world and what we carry within us. Artists' works can be collected for beauty but inspired by a disturbing occurrence. Sharing our scars with others unites people to connect on an experiential and deep level. the essence of the exhibition allows people to reflect on their scars from a perspective to bring awareness about past experiences , which results into developing a healthier and brighter future.
the series of canvases portray the cycle of a scar which starts from the cause of it into a spiritual and physical transformation leading to the healing process.
the ripped effect on raw linen canvas shows the actual wound and inside is the essence of one’s self, written with gold ,blue , and white.
