The artworks touch upon one of the aspects of the philosophy of pain. Pain from the passing of a loved one, pain from separation from a loved one, pain from the shackles of an impossible love, pain from rejection. All have a common catalyst: love.
Pain thus seems to be an inevitable corollary of love. Despite this assumption, the heart has never stopped searching and yearning for love, and poets have even romanticized pain throughout centuries.
Only by experiencing love, one can grasp how two seemingly incongruous emotions are so inseparable. Would the euphoria of love be as intense without the taste of pain?

This series of artworks was exhibited at the art exhibition RADICAL: Choix et Conséquences organized by haven for Artists in collaboration with the French Institute in Beirut in August 2017. It was executed in collaboration with photographer bashir bou raffoul .
