Should I stay or should I go? This is the historic dilemma that has become part of the Lebanese identity.
This artwork embodies an intense contrast between patriotism and emigration, between a strong attachment to the homeland and the urge to leave its troubles behind.
It equally incites a questioning of society’s outlook towards those who decide to leave, swinging between weakness and escape on the one hand, and the support of the right to a better life and ambition on the other hand.
